The Sandwich Home Industries opened for its 89th season on Thursday May 21st with a gala wine and cheese reception, giving attendees a first look at the latest collection of hand-crafted items from the juried craftsmen of the League of NH Craftsmen.
Founded in 1926 as a shop that gave its neighbors a way to sell their hand-made products and attend classes to improve their skills, the Industries went on to become a founding member of the League. Over 175 juried members show their work at the gallery, providing a wide selection of locally made hand-crafted items that make for very special summer wedding gifts.
The Industries also continues it long history of arts and crafts education with its summer schedule of classes and workshops, beginning on June 26th with a one-day workshop teaching how to make an intricate, elegant chain maille bracelet with Deb Fairchild., juried League of NH Craftsmen member from Hampstead, NH.
New this year is a 5 day weaving class on July 6 - 10 suitable for weavers of all experience levels .This class will provide 5 days of intensive study, with each student working with the instructor individually at their level. Instructor Sara Goodman is an award-winning weaver from Lyme NH, who enjoys spending time in the Lakes Region each summer.
